IMPORTANT NATIONAL TOURNAMENT INFORMATION

PLEASE READ: LET ME KNOW ASAP IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO TRYOUT.  YOU WILL NEED TO REGISTER BEFORE APRIL 13TH

The tryouts for our National Tournament teams will be held on Sunday, April 17th at Kell High School.  This is the signature recruiting event for high school girls all across the US, and this is this year our chapter sends two full teams to represent our state.  We need the very best freshmen, sophomore, and junior players in Georgia and Alabama to tryout.  (Seniors are not eligible.)  Playing in this event is like no other experience.  It is truly a one-of-a-kind tournament and a great chance for your girls to be seen by college coaches.  For more information about the National Tournament, click on the following link:

If selected, your player(s) would have to provide their own transportation to the National Tournament in StonyBrook, NY.  The girls will stay together in a hotel and play games over Memorial Day weekend.  Not including airfare, the cost of the weekend should be about $225 per player.  That number could vary based on the number of players we have tryout.

We will meet at the stadium at 4pm then practice and head to the team dinner at Carlie's house!

Woo hoo! We have added another JV game to our schedule!!!!

JV will also play Marist on Monday April 11th at 4:30PM!!!!  It is the Monday after spring break, but we will have a voluntary practice on Sunday April 10th!

Roswell game is rescheduled for Wednesday for Varsity only at 5pm!

Varsity will play at Roswell on Wednesday 3/23 at 5pm!  JV is being rescheduled for a later date.  The issue is referees.... We will leave school at 3:30 and the girls will be released from class at 3:15.  JV girls are not going to have practice but we will need you to come to the Roswell game and cheer very loud for us!!!!

JV- You play at Blessed Trinity of Thursday. Your bus will leave at 4:30 on Thursday!

Friday 3/18/2011 Practice

Ladies:  JV will have a regular practice from 4:15-6:30 at Northwood.  Varsity will have a shortened Captain led practice from 4:15-5:30.  HARD WORK BEATS TALENT WHEN TALENT DOES NOT WORK HARD!

No JV game on Thursday; Varsity only at 5:30 at Norcross

Norcross did not have enough girls to field a JV team this year so they have canceled our JV game for Thursday.  Varsity will play at 5:30.  JV is welcome to ride the bus and come watch the varsity game but there will be no JV practice on Thursday.

SO BUMMED!!!!  WE ARE SO READY TO PLAY!!!!  No game tonight and no practice.  See you tomorrow at 4:15 at Northwood.  The game is tentatively rescheduled for next Wednesday.  Stay healthy and get some rest!  We have one more week to prepare!  GO LADY KNIGHTS!

SWINK

Ladies and parents: if we can get three girls to sign up for swink then we can make this happen.  Basically, it is 7.50 per game per player and they take our game film and create highlight tapes for each game.  You can search within “Amy Martin, ground balls” and it will show you every ground ball that Amy has.  Or you can search “lucy barton saves” and every save is captured. 

Here’s what his company does…..

Swink is a video company  that is unlike many I’ve seen out there and it is a player paid service, not a school or team service, so there is no additional burden on our athletic department.

Here’s what happens:

·         I upload a game film to their server overnight, their staff reviews the film, breaks it out to video clips of goals, saves, offense, defense, etc. 

·         Within 72 hours of upload, the clips are then available for viewing or editing.

·         ANY player that subscribes to Swink, that is associated with our program ONLY, can go in and arrange the clips, lay in music from their computer, do some editing, etc. 

·         You can then email highlights of you, your team, anything off to family out of town, college coaches, or even upload to Facebook.

·         You can’t burn to DVD, and you don’t need to since everything is stored on the cloud.  Their online editor is pretty slick too.  You get unlimited use of the film and can save your own personal Swinks.

I’m very impressed with what Christopher has developed and he’s already working with a number of local schools, including our soccer team

Here’s the BEST part….it only cost $7.50 per kid, per game for lacrosse (football is $10.00 per game per kid)  If you have MORE than 3 kids subscribe, starting with the 4^th player, they will refund the athletic program back 50% of the fee for every player above that. 

3 Kids @ $7.5 per game x 18 games = $135.00 per kid for the season for professional editing of our game films.

Starting with kid #4, we (the team) will receive 50% of the season fee for every additional kid.  10 more kids would = a rebate to the OLB of $675.00

If you are a young JV girl or even a varsity girl, this is a great service to utilize for college recruiting.   I’m pretty much convinced that if a kid wants to play in college, or she wants to watch himself on film, or if she wants Granny in Augusta to see her play, THIS is the absolute way to go!!!

So convinced in fact, that I’m thinking we ONLY upload video to SWINK and have our players and families subscribe.  Takes A TON of work off my desk and puts the kids and their families in control of their own videos.

@ John's Creek: Bus information for Wednesday 3/9/2011

Ladies: Tomorrow we have to take two separate buses because we have to share an activity bus with JV boys baseball.  We will ride home from the game together as a team.  Varsity plays at 5:55pm and JV plays at 7:00pm!

Varsity: The Activity bus will leave at 4:05.  After school, be dressed and ready to go by 4:00pm!

JV- You will take a county bus and it will depart at 4:45.  You will arrive in time to watch the entire Varsity game and to get warmed up.
